The article pinpoints that Forever Green is a response to a 2008 survey, in which members of the Girls Scouts picked the environment as the most important issue for them. In it, GSUSA spokeswoman Michelle Tompkins eloquently states:
"We are where the girls are. Right now, environmental action is very important to them. We allow them to lead us"
Forever Green, which began in 10 councils will expand nationwide in 2011.
