You guessed
it. It’s National Teacher Day, and we want to celebrate in true Girl Scout fashion—with
gratitude, appreciation, and lots of thanks! Celebrated since 1953, National
Teacher Day is a great opportunity for people to reach out to their favorite
teachers, past and present, and let them know they care and they remember all
the amazing and impactful experiences these teachers made possible.
Teachers do
so much good and wear so many different hats inside and outside the classroom every
day. They teach us. They help us discover and nurture our talents. They
motivate and inspire us to be our best. They offer us understanding, confidence,
and patience. They give of their minds, hearts, time, and spirits to make
learning fun and help us grow into successful, awesome adults. They are parents,
friends, community leaders, and even Girl Scout volunteers. And just like Girl
Scouts, they help build the leaders who will make our world a better place.
So today and
all week long, using #ThankATeacher on social media, take a time-out from
whatever you’re doing and join the National Education Association in saying “thank
you” to that teacher you remember so fondly for all of the amazing things they did!
But don’t
stop there. Have a friend or relative who’s a teacher? Reach out to them with a
friendly email, a fun card, or even a phone call! It will bring such a huge,
well-deserved smile to a wonderful teacher’s face, and make you feel all warm
and fuzzy inside, too. That’s a win-win, if you ask us.
We’re all thankful
for the people in our lives who have inspired and encouraged us to be our best
selves—but did you ever wonder how you could
be that person for someone else? Well, it’s simple. Become a Girl Scout
volunteer and you can be the mentor, adventure guide, and life-changer she will
always remember! This National Teacher Day, make a decision to be the change,
and have an impact on girls that will last them a lifetime. Get started at
