So often, we get so caught up in our differences that we
forget that they’re what make us unique. It’s important to remember that the
things that make someone different from you also provide you with the
opportunity to imagine and appreciate what life is like in someone else’s
shoes. So when you meet someone who has traits that you don’t share—different hair/skin
color, braces, freckles, disability, etc.—celebrate those differences. Don’t be
a bully. Choose to be a friend first.
As we kick off Anti-Bullying
Awareness Month, take a moment to understand why this month was created and
is still necessary today:
3.2 million
students are bullied each year.160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying.
43% of teens have been victims of cyberbullying.
