Girl Scouts Among National Top 10 Youth Volunteers of 2014

Ten students were named America’s top youth volunteers of 2014 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a national program sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

GSUSA is proud to share that two of the ten honorees are Girl Scouts.
Morgan Guess, 11, of Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, was the target of bullying before she decided to take action, working with her mother to found the Guess Anti-Bullying Foundation, which brings local, state, and national attention to bullying issues.  (Photo Source)

Jessica Bird, 18, (second from left) of Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNC), was honored as a Top 10 Volunteer for her advocacy work on behalf of girl human trafficking victims around the world. Last year, Jessica led a team (seen pictured) to Costa Rica, where Jessica and her team built a safe house (seen rising behind Jessica's team of builders) where rescued human trafficking victims can seek resources and build skills for a new life.
