This 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Young Collectors Set
explores the history of the Girl Scouts organization, beginning with the founding by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912. Orders can be placed here.
The set contains a 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial
Uncirculated Silver Dollar, along with colorful graphics paired with historic
images. You will also find the “Mint Kids” characters who are back to guide you
through this organization’s remarkable history that has evolved to meet the
changing needs of girls and the Nation over the past 100 years.
The obverse (heads) design of the coin was inspired by
both the historical and contemporary aspects of Girl Scouting and by its
mission statement: "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and
character, who make the world a better place." It depicts three girls who
represent the different ages and diversity of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
Inscriptions include COURAGE, CONFIDENCE and CHARACTER, key elements of the
Girl Scouts mission statement. The 100th anniversary Trefoil symbol signifies
the centennial anniversary. Additional inscriptions are 2013, LIBERTY and IN
GOD WE TRUST.
The reverse (tails) design depicts the iconic Profiles of
Girl Scouts of the USA with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E
PLURIBUS UNUM, $1 and GIRL SCOUTS.
