GSUSA and Teach for America: A Natural Fit

It’s not every day that two organizations fit together as well as Girl Scouts of the USA and Teach For America. For the past 100 years, GSUSA has help build girls leaders of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world of better place. Similarly, over the past two decades, Teach for America has built a tremendous network of enthusiastic leaders eager to change the world through education. For Girl Scout alumnae, Teach for America provides opportunity to continue to strengthen and share the values learned in Girl Scouting, while also changing and shaping the lives of others.

Every year, thousands of college graduates commit to Teach For America, but what is it? It’s a movement committed to ensuring that children raised in poverty receive an excellent education and reach their full potential. Every day, Girl Scout alumnae use their leadership skills in a wide range of life and career choices, and now there’s one more opportunity for you to extend a helping hand and change lives. Dana Gomez, Girl Scout alumnae and Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Teach For America, recently said, “I joined Teach for America because I want to invest my time and energy in the next generation of young people, ensuring that they have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.”

Put your Girl Scout experience to good use, but do it quickly! Apply to the 2013 Teach for America corps by this Friday, September 14, 2012. For additional information, please contact Molly Ellenberg Friedland.
