Florida Girl Scouts Donate Over 5k Lbs to Food Bank

Around Osceola reports that Girl Scouts of Citrus recently hosted a 100th anniversary Food Drive at Old Town in Kissimmee. Girl Scout troops from all over Central Florida joined together and donated more than 5,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank, the Rock Church and the Osceola County Council on Aging. According to a 2010 report by the Second Harvest Food Bank, 47 percent of the individuals served by food donations are children. Girl Scouts of Citrus serves more than 15,000 girls and more than 8,000 adult volunteers in Orange, Osceola, Volusia, Brevard, Lake, and Seminole counties.
