Get Parade Ready This Thanksgiving

Mark your calendars! 🗓️

Girl Scouts will once again be showcasing their leadership at the 92nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®

No matter where you are, join Girl Scouts and rising Pop-Country music star Tegan Marie 🤩 in celebrating and supporting this year’s theme: Building a Better World Through STEM!

Did you know? Tegan Marie (also a Girl Scout!) will be one of the youngest musical performers in the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and she’ll have a special music video gift for all Girl Scouts! ☝️YOU will get to choose which song Tegan sings in her music video by voting in Instagram stories on November 19th, 20th and 21st! – EPIC! Keep reading and make sure you follow Girl Scouts on Instagram to be in the know!

If you plan to be in New York City on Thanksgiving morning, use this list to make the most of the inspiring celebration. Let’s do this!

1. Pick a viewing location. 🗺️A Girl Scout is always prepared! Our map will help you scope out the best views of the parade—don’t forget to get there early. For more parade tips, visit macys.com/parade.

2. Bring your SWAPS. What better way to meet new Girl Scout friends than by making SWAPS (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) to trade at the parade? In case you didn’t know, SWAPS, an honored Girl Scout tradition, are small, girl-made tokens of friendship exchanged among Girl Scouts who meet while traveling. It’s so much fun!

3. Visit Girl Scout Headquarters. 🌇After your parade adventure, take a stroll up to 37th Street and 5th Avenue to check out Girl Scouts of the USA’s national office at 420 5th Avenue. The building will be closed Thursday, but the Girl Scout sign out front is a great backdrop for a photo op.

4. Shop your favorite Girl Scout gear at Girl Scout Central. Grab the latest Girl Scout gear or some gifts for your Girl Scout sisters back home—they’ll love it! The shop entrance is located on the 37th Street side of the national office and will be open on Friday, November 23 (“Black Friday”), from 8:30 AM until 7 PM, Saturday, November 24, from 10 AM until 6 PM and Sunday, November 25, from 12 PM until 5 PM.

Can’t join us in the city? That’s OK! You can still be part of the fun in these four ways:

1. Follow Parade highlights on Insta stories @GirlScouts! Our Girl Scout social media team will bring you parade highlights and unique details, as well as feature YOUR posts, so be sure to show us how you celebrate from home by tagging us in your Instagram posts and stories! Additionally, we will reveal the winning Tegan Marie song and provide a link to watch the full video! – exciting!

2. Tune in! 📺The 92nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs nationwide on NBC on Thursday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. across time zones. You won’t want to miss it!

3. Get creative. 👩‍🎨Get creative and celebrate ways G.I.R.L.s can build a better world through STEM by coloring and drawing using the coloring sheet we designed for you! – so much fun!

4. Celebrate the Occasion. Don’t forget to visit the Girl Scout Shop to pick up your Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade photo or commemorative patches to remember the event. Plus, the parade float ornament is the perfect way to showcase your Girl Scout pride all holiday season. These special-edition items are limited in numbers, so be among the first to get them! don’t miss out.

5. Give back to your Girl Scout sisters. Giving Tuesday (11/27) is coming and Girl Scouts needs you. 💚Your donation will help girls across the United States grow into courageous leaders who make a difference in their communities and the world. 👉Donate today and on 11/27 #GivingTuesday or make a difference every day with a monthly gift.

Now that you’re ready to celebrate, don’t forget to follow the road to the parade with Tegan Marie on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram on Thanksgiving Day to catch behind-the-scenes moments from the parade and so much more!
