Three Fun Ways Girls Can Raise Awareness for Education for All Week

Girl Scouts get involved during Education for All Week.
Everyone deserves an education, which is why it’s important to speak up for the less-advantaged during Education for All Week.

Girl Scouts of the USA is proud to be a member of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) coalition, a movement dedicated to ensuring that children realize their right to education. GCE introduced Education for All Week to raise global awareness of education and highlight GCE’s agenda.

As strong education advocates, we’re thrilled to support this initiative and promote education for all girls. Because receiving an education is life-changing and has a ripple effect on a girl’s family, community, country, and world.

Although education is one of the most important tools we have to make the world a better place, right now 130 million girls around the world don’t attend school. We recognize Education for All Week so that all children, regardless of gender, income, or geography, have access to this vital resource.

During this special week, and every week, try out these ideas to promote education.

1. Organize a supply drive in your community. Visit your school and find out what supplies or other resources it needs. Initiate a supply drive or bake sale to raise funds for those items.

2. Start a book club. Do you know other people who are passionate about education? Take that common interest to the next level, and start a book club. There are so many inspirational books—like I am Malala, Play like a Girl, or any book about girls’ education. Share the knowledge. Raise important questions. And build an action plan to keep the conversation going after you’ve finished the final chapter.

3. Volunteer at an after-school program. Are you a math whiz or a master of a foreign language? Sharing is caring! Sign up at a nearby school to tutor younger students or assist them with their homework.
