The Ultimate G.I.R.L. 2017 Packing List

G.I.R.L. 2017 is right around the corner, and we know you’re eager to pack your bags and head to Columbus for this once-in-a-lifetime event! But before you head out that door, get in that car, or hop on that plane, check out all our packing must-haves to make your time at G.I.R.L. 2017 you’ll never forget!

SWAPS: You’re about to meet a ton of your Girl Scout sisters for the first time, so you’ll definitely want to be SWAP-ready. What are SWAPS, you ask? “Special whatchamacallits affectionately pinned somewhere” are small tokens of friendship to exchange with the Girl Scouts you meet while traveling. Need some inspiration to create your own SWAPS? We got you.

Girl Scout uniform: Whether you sport the sash, vest, or tunic, G.I.R.L. 2017 is the perfect time to show off your Girl Scout pride. Make sure all your recent awards and badges are attached and pinned tight!

“Fix-it” kit for your uniform: Girl Scouts are always prepared, right? Don’t forget to bring a travel sewing kit, some tape, or other tools to help reattach any items on your uniform that may come loose. You don’t want to lose your favorite badge while having fun!

Girl Scout swag: Got a favorite Girl Scout T-shirt? How about that tie-dyed one you made at camp or that matching sweatshirt your troop created together? Pack ‘em! Not only will they look awesome with your uniform but they’ll also give you a chance to show off your personal Girl Scout style! Don’t have Girl Scout swag to pack? No worries! Check with your council’s shop or order online through the national Girl Scout Shop beforehand. You can also wait until you get to G.I.R.L. 2017’s Hall of Experiences to shop at the awesome Girl Scout Super Store!

Phone/camera: Whether you have your own cellphone or your parents are letting you borrow one, it’s always good to have a phone on hand in case you get separated from your group. If you don’t have a phone, coordinate with your group to establish a meeting spot if you are separated, just to be safe! Also, don’t forget to bring a camera to capture all your favorite moments. If you plan to share your epic pics on social media, tag #GIRL2017 to be featured in our gallery during the week!

Easy-to-carry bag: Bring a small bag to carry your things while walking around the convention halls—you’re less likely to lose a precious item, and everything you need to get through the day is in one place. And if you’re looking for a new bag, try these!

Comfortable shoes: Hey, it’s a Girl Scout convention, which means you’ll be doing a lot of walking to catch all the amazing events we have planned. So bring those comfy shoes!

Sweater/jacket: Weather in Columbus may be warm that week, but the convention halls could still be chilly. Pack a light jacket or sweater to keep with you, and check the weather forecast before setting out for the day. A partly cloudy day could easily turn into rain.

Now that you have your packing checklist set, are you ready for the LARGEST girl-led event in the world?! We’re so excited!
