Surviving Camp in Minnesota

Minnesota’s Fox 9 News reports that at Lake Minnewashta, 300 Girl Scouts from the Chanhassen area got down to the gritty business of setting traps and learning to throw an Aztec spear.

Each year, the girls trek out to a day camp, and this year, they chose a survival theme so they could learn how to make a fire and fend for themselves when it comes to fare. The girls even explored a desert area where they were taught to survive without water and many ate insects -- everything from crickets and June bugs down to the less-intimidating meal-worms. No electronics are allowed at the camp, and inquisitiveness is encouraged.
