New York's Auburnpub.com reports that in honor of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting, a new cookie is being introduced this year — Savannah Smiles, a lemon cookie. Booth sales in the area begin February 18. Local Girl Scouts in Port Byron, Weedsport, Auburn, Skaneateles and Marcellus will be holding cookie rallies on Jan. 10 to start the cookie-selling season.
West Virginia's WVNS 59 News reports that Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council, which serves 61 counties in West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia and Maryland, will be starting to take orders this week. They'll also be planning booth sales to make sure the cookies are available to all that crave the once-a-year favorites.
This year's new cookie, "Savannah Smiles," is a cool and crisp lemon wedge cookie. It's name reflects the home of Girl Scout Founder Juliette Gordon Low.
