Golf Legends Share Fun Tips for Healthy Living With Florida Girl Scouts

Sunde Farquhar reports for the Palm Harbor Patch that local Girl Scouts got a few lessons from LPGA Legend Jan Stephenson and LPGA pro Dawn Mercer at Palm Harbor's Innisbrook Resort in Florida last Wednesday.

The girls learned the basics of golf and got to ask Stephenson and Mercer about golfing tips and their careers during the special clinic. Mercer is Director of Instruction at Innisbrook Resort and Spa.

Many LPGA Legends are former Girl Scouts including Hall of Famers Nancy Lopez and Pat Bradley. The event was part of Girl Scout's Healthy Living program which emphasizes that every girl deserves to live a healthy life.

“We are very excited to partner with the Legends Tour, and for the opportunity to introduce girls throughout the area to what may be a new activity that will encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle now and for years to come,” said Kim Jowell, CEO, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida.

The Legends Tour is the Official Legends Tour of the LPGA. The tour began in 2000 by LPGA professionals to showcase the talents of some of the greatest women’s golfers of all time. The Legends Tour has helped raise more than $11 million for charity.
