Florida Girl Scout Camps Getting Greener

Florida's TC Palm reports that Girl Scout camp properties in the area are getting a little greener thanks to a United States Forestry Service grant. That’s because the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida recently completed a Forest Health Improvement Initiative as part of a reforestation project to repair the damage done by hurricanes back in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The $18,000 grant provided funds to plant 59 trees, including slash pines and gumbo limbo trees. Planted at the end of May, the new trees will provide more shade opportunities at Camp Welaka in Jupiter and Camp Telogia in Parkland.
